Launch failure: sunflow-0.07.3b.jar

Bonjour,

Since end of march 2010, I managed to run SH3D-2.3 once.
I have used SH3D from time to time before without problem.
Since then, I get a failure message after the launch starting with with the following error:

Any advice to correct this problem ?

OS: linux Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS (Hardy)

Sorry, I didn't understand whether Sweet Home 3D runs or not on your computer, once the message you mention appears.

For your information, sunflow-0.07.3b.jar library doesn't exist anymore and was replaced by sunflow-0.07.3c.jar in Sweet Home 3D 2.3.

Re: Launch failure: sunflow-0.07.3b.jar

SH3D-2.2 was starting and ran on my computer

Now, the program is starting, but is not running anymore: I get the welcome display (SweetHome 3D, eteks), and then two windows:
  • "Java Web Start" and
  • "Erreur d'application: impossible de lancer l'application"

FYI, I'm lauching the application with the following command:
    /usr/bin/javaws $HOME/SweetHome3D/SweetHome3D.jnlp

Why don't you just double-click the program icon?

To hansmex: The double click calls the same command and causes the exact same behaviour.

I have also tried to reinstall SH3D by clicking on the banner "Lauch SH3D with Java Web Start" on page http://www.sweethome3d.eu/download.jsp but it only brings me the Java official download page.

By the way, the version of javaws installed on my computer is "Java(TM) Web Start 1.6.0_17"

    SW3DFnx:

Why don't you try an upgrade to Lucid 10.04? It's still a beta, but very stable. When using Ubuntu 8.04 I had problems with outdated video drivers, that were solved after upgrading to 09.10. However, 9.10 wasn't very stable, so I decided to upgrade to 10.04 which you can find here .

SH3D works fine on my computer.

"Erreur d'application: impossible de lancer l'application"

Please, click on the Details button, and copy paste here the information shown in the Exception tab (onglet).

    Re: Launch failure: sunflow-0.07.3b.jar

Referencing a local file to run javaws doesn't seem to be a good choice, when the remote file changed.
You should run Sweet Home 3D with the command:

or replace $HOME/SweetHome3D/SweetHome3D.jnlp by its new version available at http://www.sweethome3d.eu/SweetHome3D.jnlp.

    Re: Launch failure: sunflow-0.07.3b.jar

    Merci ! the command:

    works very well.

Is this a relaible method that can be recommended for all linux users when the link "Lauch SH3D with Java Web Start" on page http://www.sweethome3d.eu/download.jsp doesn't work ?

    For Online usage:

For Offline usage: In a chosen directory, download firstly the SH3D launch file with (for instance):

And launch SH3D with the command
    /usr/bin/javaws ./SweetHome3D.jnlp
